Exhibition "Vincent Van Gogh, the Cultured Painter”

The exhibition is an unmissable event, made possible thanks to a stellar collaboration with the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, the Netherlands. This museum boasts a Van Gogh collection that is second only to that of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and around 40 if it’s works are coming to be exhibited in Milan.

The guided tour offers an opportunity to admire the works of the Dutch artist in a new light, one that sees him among the most up-to-date and participatory supporters of the artistic encounter between Western and Oriental.

From masterpieces such as the studies for “The Potato Eaters” to the magic of his self-portraits and landscapes, the exhibition offers a journey that is both chronological and thematic. But there is more: the exhibition highlights the relationship between Van Gogh's artistic vision and his profound culture. On the one hand, you will discover his love for books and, on the other, his fascination for Japan and Japanese prints.

And that's not all! The works will be accompanied by a selection of over thirty original editions of art books and magazines. These treasures come from the curator's collection and from the Malatestiana Library, and will be displayed in thematic showcases throughout the exhibition.

The curatorship was entrusted to an exceptional trio: the art historian Professor Francesco Poli, Mariella Guzzoni, expert and curator of the theme "Van Gogh: living with books", and Aurora Canepari, curator of the Museum of Oriental Art Edoardo Chiossone of Genoa.
